Thanks Giving
The stockings were hung.....whoops wrong holiday. Steve and I have been running around trying to make sure we have everything ready to go to Wichita tomorrow night. Let's see...turkey, gravy, stuffing.....oh and don't forget the cheese ball. It wouldn't be a party without that. Poor Gizmo, he doesn't understand what is going on, and he hasn't seen us pack his bag yet. He is coming with us though. We are so excited. This is the first time we have gone to Justin's for a holiday or even an overnight. Oh it's "over the river and through....the traffic? We certainly have a lot to be thankful for, even with the economy on tilt. We have our health, our family(which gets bigger every year) and friends. Wishing everyone a warm and blessed Thanksgiving. Make sure to save room for dessert.

David Cook Album

David Cook

As most of you know by now, I am a big David Cook fan. I went to see him at the American Idol concert at the Sprint Center when it was in Kansas City in August. That is where the picture is from. I have been eagerly awaiting his new album,(which is due out in stores on Tuesday). He is a rock n' roller with a heart of gold. I first got interested when I was watching the tryouts. Maybe it was because they said he was from Blue Springs. I had chatted with Derek and Bert about "their" bartender and how he was going to be a star. I even sent some UTube videos to Bert when she was in Sweden. I had watched bits and pieces of American Idol before, but never got involved until this time. If you haven't heard him yet, I hope you follow the link and listen to his music. He has done some great fundraising for the American Cancer society (his brother has brain cancer) and he is still as down to earth as ever. I'll keep you all updated. :)

Veterans Day
Life without that of those who serve their country proudly would be a life void of love, dreams, and freedom. To those of you wear the uniform of your country today, and for those of you who wore the uniform in days past; you gave of yourself, to protect and keep our way of life free.
Some came home, some never did. Some live in our memories, some in our tears. Honoring and remembering with you our veterans today and always. Semper Fi

HAPPY 233RD BIRTHDAY MARINES

The Marine Corps turns 233 years old today. Marines everywhere a celebrating their birthday today, or have celebrated this past weekend. There is a dinner, dancing and celebrating everything that makes us Marines, including a message from our commmandant. The cake is usually escorted out by Marines and is cut with a service sword. The Marines are all in their Dress Blues and their spouses are dressed in formal attire. We celebrate The Few, The Proud, the United States Marines. Since Steve and I are not near a base, we decided to celebrate with our coworkers. We each brought a cake in and shared the tradition that makes our birthday special. Semper FI.
"I love the Corps for those intangible possessions that cannot be issued: pride, honor, integrity, and being able to carry on the traditions for generations of warriors past. Cpl. Jeff Sornig, USMC; in Navy Times, November 1994 "
preparations
Well. tomorrow is the United States Marine Corps Birthday and as you can tell we have been a little busy preparing for the big event. Steve and I are both bringing in cakes to help make the celebration special. Thanks to my sisters wanting a shopping day together, I was able to find some awesome material to make a Marine Corps throw. I also created the shirts we both have, so Steve could wear it to work. He didn't want to ruin a good one. Nov 6, 2008
Just Because
I wanted to share the beautiful flowers Steve sent me today. No special reason...just because. He knows that things have been pretty stressful lately with all the craziness going on at work, and he thought this might cheer me up.
The roses were especially beautiful yellow with red edges and smelled like spring. He just wanted to remind me that he still loves me. The picture is from my cell phone and doesn't do them justice, but they were too beautiful not to show everyone.

Lady Bugs and Gizmo
Oh Help Me ...Help Me....what am I to do?
These little asian ladybugs are running all over and smell bad too.
WE see them on the ceiling, and then Gizzy starts to bark.
They seem to come in everywhere but especially after dark.
We hope the weather gets cooler soon and they will go away.
We shoo them all out of the house, we don't want them to stay.

Weekend Visit
| From Justin in Wichita |
This weekend, we went out to visit with Justin. It was a beautiful day. We talked with his roommates, and found out they had a great Halloween, except that one of them swallowed a bottle cap. After a trip to the emergency room, he turned out OK. They found it still in his stomach. I am not so sure they will play that beer game anymore. We went out to eat at Applebees and then since it was such a nice day, Justin said he had something to share with us.
He took us to this beautiful park he had found within his housing area. There were ducks and geese floating on the pond, a walkway that went all the way around (about a 1/2 mile) and park benches every little bit. It also had swings, a slide and a sand volleyball court. Justin says he likes to ride his bike here after work just to relax. Guess he is still a country boy at heart. Thanks for sharing. We enjoyed the weekend
