Imagine our surprise this morning when we went outside and there were Quail at our bird feeder. NO chance to get pictures yet, but Steve said there was two on the ground and some in the trees as well. We will keep our eyes open and our cameras ready.

Happy Birthday Steve

Steve had a birthday today. Justin came home this past weekend to play golf with him in a tournament for Gates. They came in at 3 under. He stayed to visit for the rest of the weekend and then headed for home, so we celebrated a little early. Tonight, I made him Stuffed Peppers and of course we had to save room for the Dairy Queen Cake. He got Tiger Woods 2009 for the Wii. Dad stopped by with a card, and he got cards and greetings from all over. Thanks to all for helping make this a special birthday.

The CASE family comes to town
The CASE family wanted to visit with Angie's Grandma and Grandpa, (S & E's great grandparents.) We met them for breakfast along with Aunt Betty and Doyle. S brought her camera and wanted to take pictures. Angie asked if we could find some animals to shoot, because S kept trying to get photos on the trip through the car windows. While they were gone to visit with their greatgrandpa and Grandma, I went to talk to our neighbor Ruth. A little after 11, Angie called to say they were on the way. Pretty soon, they showed up. After stopping to pet Gizmo, our dog, we went to see Ruth.
There they got to meet Allie the dog, Peanut the cat and even feed Tuff the horse. I think the dog and cat were a little more familiar, although Tuff is a gentle giant. We also saw the hummingbirds flying in low under the porch for a sip of nectar. We thanked Ruth and then went on to visit the goat's at another neighbor's house. George was happy to see the kids. The goats are very friendly and he shut off the fence and gave S and E some bread to feed them with. Special thanks to our neighbors and their friendly pets and to the CASE family for a wonderful visit. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Deer in Iowa
When we were driving to Iowa on Friday, we took our time to take in the scenery. Steve has a great eye for wildlife(even while he is driving) I had my camera out and was shooting flowers here and there, when Steve stopped, turned the vehicle around and said he had seen some deer in the bean field. By the time we got back, they were heading for the woods, but I was lucky enough to catch them before they disappeared completely. Then, just before we got to John's he spotted more in the field between the rows of corn. They were feeding and quite curious, but also very watchful. Thought you
would enjoy the wildlife.

Iowa treasures
I am on the road again, this time to Iowa. I had an appointment in Kansas City, and then we got on the road North to visit with John and his family. On our way, we stopped every so often to take pictures of flowers, and other wildlife. I got some great shots of some deer, but even better shots of John's grandchildren.
We had a great visit with John's kids and grandkids. It seems that everyone has grown since the last time we saw them in April. Sheila's two are up and going and Lisa's new addition is quite handsome. Her little girl is a big help to Mom as well. Nate has shot up over the summer and Brandon introduced us to Karla (his girlfriend.) We had a BBQ on Saturday night, and thought you would enjoy the pictures. Lots of good food and good fun.
